    Bulgaria

When I think about Bulgaria and I see a heavy loaded Fiat 126p with four/five – person family inside and a lot of stuff like camping equipment and goods for sale. It doesn’t matter whether Bulgarians like it or not, even nowadays their country is recognized as the Mecca of the Eastern Block. Places like Varna with nearby Golden Sands or Sunny Beach known also as Las Vegas of the Eastern Europe were the main holiday destination. So how does Bulgaria look like nowadays? Is it worth visiting this country?    Besides the fact that a lot of time has passed, Bulgaria still seems to be torn between the communism…

    Tivoli

Tivoli is a magical place which makes even the adrenaline rush lovers dizzy, surprises by its colors and interesting, oriental architecture, where the smell of the cotton candy/candyfloss brings back childhood times. Tivoli was built in 1834 and it’s one of the oldest amusement park in the world. Despite numerous modifications it remained its old – fashioned character. Just after the entrance one can see beautiful palace from the Tale of One Thousand and One Nights. It houses Nimb Hotel, one of the most expensive in Copenhagen. France – Colmar

Colmar has been going around my head since I stumbled upon the photos of this amazing town. Unfortunately, the quick glance at the map, brought me down to earth. Apart from the fact that Colmar is situated very close to the border with Switzerland and Germany, its location isn’t convenient in view of the lack of cheap flights. Nevertheless, the New Year brought me new possibilities. When I was bored waiting for the flight at the Riga airport I found budget tickets to Basel. As it turned out later the flight was the tip of the iceberg. Taking into account that Swiss franc exchange rate was directly proportional to the…

    Gothenburg – cheap trip

The idea of going to Gothenburg appeared spontaneously, actually, as it usually happens it was connected with big promotion in Ryanair. Having the alternative between spending Valentine’s Day at home or going to Gothenburg for only 4 €, our choice was obvious. Of course, there’s one catch when you buy such cheap tickets. Usually it turns out that on the spot, especially in Sweden, prices aren’t promotional. In such situations, common sense tells us to resign, that the idea of spending romantic Valentines in the middle of winter in Sweden is ridiculous ant it’s only a matter of losing 4 €. Fortunately we’re neither rational nor romantic 😉   So,…

9 and a half reason to visit Gothenburg

Islands, islets and red houses So the Southern Archipelago in the flesh. Hop on a ferry and admire a typical Swedish countryside. Islands like: Asperö, Donsö, Styrsö, Vrangö and Brännö, surprise by their gaunt landscape as well as typical Swedish wooden red  buildings. It doesn’t matter which direction you choose, the last letter ö  in the name is essential 😉 2. Take a walk along the dock It’s worth taking a short walk along the dock, where you can visit floating museum. 3. Have a rest in the shade of palms Palm House, located in the strict city center is a cultish meeting place. Certainly there’re a lot of reasons why, but…

    Como Lake – Varenna

Among a lot of towns of Lake Como, the most impressive is Varenna. This little town with the population of 1000 residents is situated around 60 km from Milan and 20 km from Lecco. The most convenient way to get there is by train from Milan or by ferries which shuttle between Como Lake towns. We went there at the beginning of August – peak tourist season in Italy. Taking into account our previous trips and the fact that we have no luck for  good weather we weren’t surprised that was cold, windy and rainy. When in Poland was a scorching heat, there was only 18 degrees. It’s no wonder…

French cuisine – the snail is not as black…

It isn’t a piece of cake to learn French cuisine during only 3 – day trip to Paris, but it’s more difficult to taste it and eat one’s fill. French cuisine is a culinary masterpiece in the literal and metaphoric meaning of this word.   Amount of the meal is not as important as its finesse and sophisticated taste. When French seem to celebrate every bite of their meals, hungry tourists are at the crossroads: how to eat their fill and not to damage elaborate its composition. The ideal example ale popular escargots or snails. Reportedly, at least 500 mln of them are eaten in France every year. To eat them…

Copenhagen, an expensive destination? – myth debunked

Public transport in Copenhagen is very expensive. For example single ticket costs ranging from 24 DKK (3,2 €/ 3,6$) to 108 DKK (14,5 €/ 16,5$)), depending on the zones. Daily and 72 – hour tickets for the zones 1-4 cost respectively 80 DKK (10,7€/12$) and 200 DKK (27€/30$). Apart from these high prices, the Copenhagen underground is worth a visit. It  goes automatically, without engine driver attendance.  The best seats are located in front of the carriage. High ticket prices discourage to visit the capital of Denmark but there’s a way to cut them back. A lot of Danish ride on two wheels and all country is criss – crossed…
